As of 16 October 2026, Capsule CRM runs its own hosted MCP server at https://mcp-server.capsulecrm.com/mcp, on the Growth, Advanced and Ultimate plans, and Claude can connect to it today as a custom connector using an OAuth app you register yourself. Through it Claude can read almost the whole account (39 read tools) and use 8 write tools: create a contact, an opportunity, a project, a task or a note, and overwrite a custom field value on a contact, opportunity or project. It cannot rename anything, move a deal to another milestone, move a project to another stage, reassign an owner, delete a record, attach a file, or touch the setup of pipelines, boards, tags and fields. For any of those, the answer is Capsule's REST API, which does all of it.

Claude Code takes the same client ID and secret on the command line, claude mcp add --transport http --client-id <id> --client-secret --callback-port <port> capsule https://mcp-server.capsulecrm.com/mcp, but it calls back to http://localhost:<port>/callback rather than the claude.ai address. When I registered my app on 12 October, Capsule's form wanted an HTTPS redirect, so a localhost callback may not register, and I have not tested that path.

Lists come back 100 records at a time, and list_tasks returns open tasks only unless you ask for another status. The contact, opportunity, project and activity lists take the same filter conditions as Capsule's saved lists, so "organisations tagged VIP with no activity in 90 days" is a question the door answers well. A tag or organisation name that does not exist yet is created when you use it, which is worth knowing before you let a model type names freely: misspell a company and you have a new company.

A personal access token from My Preferences, API Authentication Tokens, or an OAuth app, and the API does create, update and delete on every object, including the ones the MCP server only reads: pipelines, milestones, lost reasons, boards, stages, tag definitions, custom field definitions, task categories, activity types, tracks and goals. It uploads attachments, subscribes REST hooks so you hear about changes instead of polling, and lists deleted records. Tokens can be scoped read or read write, and a read token on a write call gets a 403 that says "Requires additional scope".
The working details. Each user gets 4,000 requests an hour, with the remaining count in every response header. Lists default to 50 a page and go to 100 with perPage, and a since parameter returns only what changed after a date. Updates are partial, so a field you leave out is untouched. And projects are still kases in every path and root key: Capsule renamed Cases to Projects in June 2022 and kept the old word in the API so nobody's integration broke. Every new developer meets that fossil on day one, and I like what it says about the company, backward compatibility as a visible value, paid for in small confusion forever.

The result is a small MCP server of my own, eleven generic tools over the REST API, running on my machine and registered with Claude Code. Rather than one typed tool per operation, it has list, get, search, filter, create, update, delete and a cheat sheet of the body shapes, so the model does not re-read Capsule's documentation to add a note. Capsule's hosted server went the other way, one tool per operation, and both are right for their audience: the generic shape is easier to keep complete when a model is driving, and the typed shape is easier for a vendor to sandbox. Every write mine makes is appended to a log file, time, method, path and body. Five lines of code, and it is the audit trail the product does not keep.
